Principal's Message

Principal Marvin Lawton
Dear Parents & Students,

My name is Marvin Lawton and it is an honor and privilege for me to be your new Principal at Frank D. Parent School. I am a native Angelino and have been in education for over 20 years, serving as a teacher and administrator at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. I obtained all of my education in the Southern California basin, including a B.S. in Mathematics and a M.Ed. in Cross-Cultural Teaching.

I envision a school to be a place that cultivates optimal learning based on data-driven best practices. I aim to enhance the music & arts, language programs, and overall academic programs to improve test scores and create well-rounded scholars on our campus. As a musician and singer myself, I recognize the positive impact fine arts have in a child’s overall cognitive development. Similarly, I believe children's exposure to multiple languages and cultures, as occurs in our Dual-Language Immersion Programs, prepares them to be quality producers and ultimately effective leaders within their communities.

I am committed to the success of all our students. My goal is to create a learning environment that provides rigorous and culturally responsive instruction, high standards, and an institution that is emotionally, academically, and physically safe for all students to learn.

This school year will be exciting and full of many changes including a complete makeover of the campus. If you’d like to contact me directly, please feel free to email me to set up an appointment. As a devoted husband and father, I believe in the importance of family and the concept of “it takes a village” to raise a child. I sincerely welcome your input and look forward to working together over the school year ahead.

Go Panthers!

Kindest regards,
Marvin M. Lawton II
